Eric Edmonds, MD

Eric Edmonds, MD, is the director of orthopaedic research and co-director of 360 Sports Medicine at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego. He is also an associate professor of clinical orthopaedics at University of California San Diego.

Dr. Edmonds attended Johns Hopkins University and earned his medical degree at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed a general surgery internship at the UC Davis Medical Center, followed by an orthopaedic residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. His training brought him back to southern California, where he completed the pediatric orthopaedic and scoliosis fellowship at Rady Children's, followed by a sabbatical in sports medicine at Boston Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and Southern California Kaiser Permanente, San Diego.

Dr. Edmonds is one of two fellowship-trained, board-certified orthopaedic surgeons with subspecialty certification in sports medicine in San Diego, Imperial, Riverside and Orange counties. He is actively involved with the education of pediatric orthopaedic fellows, residents from UC San Diego, the Navy and the Air Force, and UC San Diego medical students. Dr. Edmonds's clinical interests include youth sports medicine and musculoskeletal trauma. His current research involves adolescent shoulder and knee injuries, as well as ankle injuries and fracture treatment. He actively participates in many multicenter research teams, including the Research of Osteochondritis Dissecans of the Knee (ROCK). He has received multiple research awards, including the Provost Undergraduate Award for Research and Excellence from Johns Hopkins University and the distinguished St Giles Young Investigator Award from the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA).

Biography

Dr. Eric Edmonds is the director of orthopedic research and co-director of 360 Sports Medicine at Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego.
